Shocking Campaigns
Much better in color! Thank you, Javi!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to talk about these campaigns' effectivety. I believe that sometimes they are just shocking, but they don't make you reflect on the point they are supposed to explain. Sometimes less is more, I mean, the less morbid they look like the more effective they get. One of my favourite tv spots is about seat belts. You can watch it here:

I think that when you see this comercial, at least that day, you don't forget to belt up.
Sometimes, trying not to be morbid, this campaings just keep an aesthetically beautiful image lack of meaning and that's perfect for art but not for advertisement.
It's complex to combine beauty, effectivity, impact and message in just one image or 30 seconds spots.
So, in my opinion, usually they aren't much effective, but when they are, they really are.
Thanks for the video, very "moving". One of these days (or months!) we'll watch sth about texting and driving in the UK which I found impressive, hope you like it too.
ReplyDeleteIncredible the spot, it almost made me cry, I like this kind of ads that raise awareness without being too sadistic, the add of the DGT in which so many people receive diferents calls and begin to cry because they report that a relative has died, I feel too sad, it is realistic, but personally I felt very bad the first time I hear it on the radio, I was driving and I think it is too distracting, it makes you start to think about this things, when the only thing you must thing about is just drive and arrive safely at home, there are ways and ways to raise awareness and I don't think that a more aggressive advertising is more efficient, I think they should be more emotional as the announcement that has hung David. Thank you very much, was very emotional.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sara and David too... it´s so hard listen about people who have lost their relatives, I know car accidents are very important currently and people have to aware of it, but adds are pretty shocking and i´m not sure if it's efficient or painful.
ReplyDeleteBesides, I watched an agressive video in UK about teenager accident because of read messages with movil phone while drive (Javi I don´t know if you refered to this). I tried to look for it in english web, but the best is in youtube in spanish, here is the link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HS4NLN8C0O8). Be careful, it is very agressive because it seems real, so if you think it could hurt you, please, don´t watch it...
I could watch it only once, although i don´t read any message in my movil phone while i´m driving since i watched it, the first view in my mind is this add...
